Why Does My Restoration Fail? Why Can't I Copy the Log?

Thread needs solution

Acronis WD edition informs me my attempt to restore a disk has failed.

Why did it fail?

I would provide a copy of the log here, but Acronis has made the log unable to be copy and pasted.

Why has Acronis made the logs unable to be copy and pasted?

I tried it again. The Error part is:

Failed to prepare operations. Error Code: 9 'A File system error has been found.' with extended code: 458,774 'Block bitmap is corrupted.'

What does that stuff mean? What is the solution?

It means the file system on the disk, most likely the one you are backing up, has a problem.

Run chkdsk X: /r on every partition contained on the physical disk. Replace X with the drive letter of the partition being tested; chkdsk will likely request a reboot. Be sure you use the /r switch since that does the most thorough test and repair. Check the results of the chkdsk run in the Windows Event Logger.

I am getting the same exact error.

Ran chkdsk /r on the source disk, the target disk, and then I mounted the backup and ran it. No problems found.

I validated the backup just fine and still I cannot restore.

Hi all,

Thank you for your comments! Seekforever, thank you for help!

As the issue is reported to be file system error, the /r parameter might not fix it. We would strongly recommend to do the following:

  1. Start -> Run -> cmd
  2. And there issue the following command:
    chkdsk /f /r

/F parameter should fix the file system errors and solve the issue.

Should the problem remain, please gather Acronis Info, Acronis Report, and submit a case with the information attached, and let us know its number.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

Yana, Actually Seekforever is right. Your command would only default to the system disk (C:), and the /f is unneccessary since /r is the extended test. You need to run Seekforevers command on each partition.
