Windows 7 Back Up and Restore stopped working.

Thread needs solution

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit edition and had downloaded and installed the trial version of Acronis Back Up (ATIH2012_trial_en-US.exe) back in March. After uninstalling the trial version, my Windows 7 Back Up and Restore stopped working/stopped responding.

It looks like this is a known issue, but I can't find clear and concise directions in one document that would allow me to correct the problem. It seems that the Acronis program corrupted some registry entries and I have found several Knowledge Base articles that refer to other links or downloads, but I am always blocked by permission issues (not knowing what to allow permissions to) or incomplete instructions. Can you please help me to restore my registry to where it was prior to Acronis?

There are several things you can try. There is a cleanup utility. Check for link in my signature below.

After the cleanup, you could try installing the 2013 trial and see if the options on that program can give you back usability of the Widows backup.
