Windows 8 and Bitlocker on the backup media

Thread needs solution

Sorry, but I searched and couldn't find my issue. I have a bad feeling... So, I use TI2013 plus pack, Windows 8, HP laptop, and WD My Passport for backing up to. Here's my issue.

I've enabled Bitlocker on my WD My Passport drive, because heaven forbid that get into the wrong hands... at least it's encrypted and would be a bear for someone to get to my backup files. Problem is, I can't get to my backup files for a restoral. Thankfully this scenario is only a test run as my laptop is working perfectly at this point, but when I use the USB boot flash drive (Acronis recovery) I don't see my WD My Passport drive. Well, it see the drive, but as I would expect to enter the password somewhere to unlock the drive so I can access my backups for restoral, I get nada, nothing. Everything I've seen regarding Bitlocker is that if you're backing up an encrypted drive it should work, but I want my backup drive device (WD My Passport) to be as hard to get into if lost/stolen, etc. Any ideas or did I just miss something? Do I need to rethink my process? Thank you in advance.

Yes, you need to rethink your process. If you encrypt your backup destination with Bitlocker the backup files won't be available for a bare metal restore.
You should simply encrypt your backups files using the file level encryption option in Acronis True Image.

Pat, Thank you. I spent all weekend decrypting my backup drives. It was a good idea when I set it up. I'll look into the True Image encryption. Again, thanks.

So... I found through searching how to encrypt and password my backup jobs. What about the nonstop backups? Am I missing something? Would that be an issue if someone got hold of my drive? I'm guessing they'd have to know a password to access or bypass the encryption on any backups, but the nonstop backups look like free game? Maybe?
