Windows in infinite loop... cannot get to True Image backup on external drive

Thread needs solution

Running Vista Business. Tried to install W7 Pro upgrade. When it boots it says "install was not successful" then tries to go to rollback position but that doesn't work and now system is caught in infinite loop. Will not go to rollback position. Continually reboots, which means neither version of WIndows will load, ergo I cannot get to my TureImage software.

I did a complete TrueImage sys backup before the W7 debacle. So, my question here is, if I do a clean install of Vista and reinstall TrueImage, shouldn't I be able to restore my whole drive (under Vista... I'm DONE with W7)?

Hello George,

Let me help you.

Actually, you don't need to install Windows Vista from scratch to restore your backup. All you need is to download a bootable media from your account, boot off your PC using it and restore your archive.

To download the bootable media please do the following:

  1. Log in to your account (if you do not have one, you will need to create it);
  2. Once logged in, click My Products & Downloads:

  3. Scroll down to the registered product and click Bootable Media:

  4. Click Download:

  5. Acronis Bootable Media will be downloaded as an ISO file. See Burning an ISO Image.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.
