Windows PE boot Disc worked (kind of)

Thread needs solution

I have not been a real fan of the 2015 version of Acronis. I agree with many people that 2013 just did a better job. HOWEVER, I might have changed my mind a little. I now know why Acronis gives you two different ways to make a boot CD. The standard boot CD will not work on one of my PC's. I thought it was a bad disc. Nope, this one PC just does not like that disc. I get a runtime error. It turns out that the standard boot disc will not work on some hardware. Go figure. So, I made the Windows PE disc. OK, that works on this one PC. HOWEVER, I cannot get it to see any other PC's on my network. I keep all of my backups on a file server (server 2008). I decided to try to copy the backup I needed off of the server onto a portable HD. In the past when I tried something like that the restore would not work. To my surprise it worked. The boot disc saw my USB HD and it did a complete restore without any issues. This process started because of a problem that developed when I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. So I am back to Windows 8.1 (for now). Thanks Acronis, you saved the day.

Yes, WinPE doesn't let you network easily. A good alternative is to create a MustangPE based disk.
