XP SP3 and Acronis 2015

Thread needs solution

I have used Acronis very happily at home for 6 or so years. Yesterday I decided to upgrade to 2015 to get 3 licences so that I can do my monthly backups on two XP PCs. (I had been using 2009 on one machine and 2012 on the other and I was not sure whether I actually should be running both versions, hence the upgrade.) I checked that the system spec allowed XP SP3, so I turned off Comodo anti virus and firewall, plus most other system tray utilities, and installed Acronis 2015. After installation I got the dreaded blue screen of death on restart. Fortunately I had taken a 2012 back up yesterday morning, so after hours of reinstalling the 2012 backup.

I tried again this morning. The same problem. The installation goes OK, although I did notice both times that it causes all the system tray applications to start firing up during while Acronis is installing, which did not seem correct. I then did a restart and yet again my system is trashed. So now I am waiting for the very slow system back up to get me back to where I was yesterday morning.

Is 2015 actually compatible with XP SP3? It seems not to me.

Any suggestions, please?

Yes TI 2015 does support XP SP3. You have some other issue possibly a conflicting driver or possibly missing or corrupt system files. Are you certain your machines meet the rest of the minimum requirements?

Thank you for the reply. 1.6GHz; Celeron M; 20GB free on hard disc; 2GB RAM; No known driver conflicts. All latest updates applied. Everything else running normally as expected.

Acronis 2012 went on with no problem and did a backup (thank goodness), but I have only the one license and that is on the other laptop. Hence I had 30 days 'trial period' as of yesterday. I would have bought another 2012 license, but that did not appear available. (I assume, but have not tried, that the 2015 license is not backward compatible?)

I removed 2012 and did a system check and PerfectDisc defrag of the restored C drive before installing 2015 the second time.

There would appear to be some conflict with this PC, XP and 2015; perhaps, as you say, a driver but then as mentioned above there are no apparent conflicts with anything else. To produce a blue screen STOP, with no way forward e.g. safe mode, etc., on Windows loading is terminal.

You have 30 days support on the product, I would contact the support team for further assistance. Support link appears at the top right of this page.

Just uninstalling TI 2012 may not have been good enough. Some Acronis drivers could have been left behind. This would cause a BSOD.You need to run the Acronis Cleanup Utility before you install TI 2015. Try that before you contact support.

Thank you for the replies above. I did not know about the cleanup utility, so will try that. If that fails, then off to support...

Back again: RESOLVED. Following the instructions of '34876: Acronis True Image: Cleanup Utility ' in the Knowledge base here and running the Cleanup utility obviously removed additional 'bits' left over.

Many thanks for the assistance and guidance; greatly appreciated.
