Is disk drive still usuable after acronis drive cleanser?

Welcome to our Forum, we're glad to greet you here! I completely understand your concern and will be glad to shed the light to the situation.

I'm glad to assure you that there is no need to worry about the drive after it was cleared: 

it doesn't affect the drive physically, it overwrites the sectors in a mode that you choose, which guarantees inability to retrieve data erazed. But no harm or damage is caused to the drive. You can insert it back to the PC and continue using it. You can erase not the entire drive, but selected partitions, which allows you to avoid system reinstallation.

I regret to inform you that currently Drive Cleanser doesn't support Windows 7 (you can see the list of supported OSes on the product's page), but I will definitely forward your request to the Development and Management team, so that they could speed up the process of the next release.

It's kind of disappointing to hear its not w7 compatible, it seem to have the exact features I required, but I'm willing to hold out till the next version comes out, hopefully, they make it w7 compatible as for their are people who need it.

I was reading that acronis drive cleanser can be booted from a cd during a boot session of a pc, shouldn't that mean that it dosent matter what
operating system is installed since your running the program straight from the startup (Bios) menu which is a stand alone feature and not part of any OS?

for exmaple, "Dariks boot n nuke" is a self contained OS, so it dosent matter, what OS you have installed, it will run on its on terms and conditions.

unfortunately, I can not wait any longer for the next release of Acronis drive cleanser, I've been planning to reinstall my OS after doing a disk cleaning, But once it comes out, I plan to get it.

But for now, it would be so kind and helpful of you if you can guide me to the right Disk wiper.

Dariks boot n nuke
active kill disk? are other well effective ones?

"After making your installation choices and copying of Acronis DriveCleanser files onto your hard disk, you will be offered to create a bootable diskette or CD-R/W (you may omit this step if you have purchased the boxed product that contains a bootable CD). While DriveCleanser works in Windows, you can also wipe a hard disk with Linux or other PC operating system. If you are not running Windows, you should create bootable media, and re-boot your PC from it, to start a wiping"

I guess if I use this boot up method, it dosent matter if I have windows 7 x64, correct? or wrong?

I'm not looking to erase individual partitions from the desktop menu,
I dont mind doing an entrie disk wipe from the the boot menu.

You are absolutely correct: should you decide to wipe the entire drive, you can create a bootable media and boot the target machine with it. And it won't matter what OS is installed. The drive will be wiped.

Please kindly note that usually bootable media is created by installing the product into Windows and following the Boot Media Creation menu. But we can go another way: you specify me your license of Drive Cleanser, I provide you with the bootable media in ISO format and instructions how to burn it onto the CD.

After burning the CD you will be able to boot your machine from it and destroy all the data on the drive.

P.S. I would also advise you to install any drive monitoring tool after you reinstall the system onto the wiped drive - this will allow you to track your HDD health and repair it before it crashes. You can choose any program you like or use ours - it's a free utility - Acronis Drive Monitor. You can find all the information about its functionality and ways of communicating with the drive here.

I'm unexperienced it this field, meaning, it will be my first time to wipe my entire drive and reinstalling my OS from CD.

I've have done free space wiping on my C: drive, but thats about it.

what I'm concern about when I wipe my entire HDD, is, what will happen to the other drives, like C: drive, D: drive(recovery)

and my other drives like
* : system (NTFS)
* :HP_tools (FAT32)

I'm guessing all those drives will get deleted right?
those drives are not part of the system(pc) itself like the bios, but rather part of the OS and are created once installed, correct? or no?

I'm currently planning on upgrading to a different OS version then my current one.
So I'm afraid that by deleting those drives as well, my OS wont work properly, like the D: drive, I wont be able to use "recovery" if its deleted.

But, like i'm wondering,
is all those drives automatically created once the new OS is installed?

Is using the driver cleanser an efficient way to make a clean slate of my computer HD to prepare it for the saved BU located on my ext drive?

If I use the driver cleanser, can I use the boot disc (which I have used before) and then recover my pristine OS and files from the external HD?

In case your drives (partitions C:, D:, etc) are located on the HDD you're wiping, then yes, they will be wiped out.

Absolutely. Do not worry about BIOS, it will be intact.

The drives you're referring to are actually partitions of the HDD. You will be offered to repartition the drive during the OS installation.

Unfortunately we cannot say for sure as it depends on hardware configuration and each case is individual.

This is actually done by our freeware Drive Monitor.

If it's a sector-by-sector recovery - yes. If not - yes, but partially.

It's actually not necessary. You can restore onto the HDD with the data: restored image will overwrite the present information, but there's actually no need to wipe the data before recovery.

I am new here and I have win xp then now what I can do?
