Help understanding Exchange backup method

Thread needs solution

Hello, I need some help to understand the backup methods for Exchange. I have an Acronis Exchange restore for SBS. I would like to be able to restore individual mailboxes (mail, contacts, calendar) and individual public folders. Also I would like to be able to restore entire exchange db on a new server in case of desaster. What s the best way ? (including the problem of log files). At the moment, I have two plans : the forst one makes a full backup of all mailboxes and public folders every saterday and incremental on the other days. The second one makes a full backup of the storage group every sunday. If I want to restore 1 mail in a mailboxe or 1 contact is it possible ? Thank you very much for your advices !!

Hello Didier!

Welcome to Acronis Forum and thank you for opening the thread regarding this question!

You first scenario sounds very reasonable, and I agree that the best solution here will be weekly full backup with set of incrementals, but anyway that depends on your environment, so its up to you to decide which scenario is the best. I would like to assure you that you also have an opportunity to backup or restore 1 individual mailbox or contact - this type of backup is called "brick-level" and fully supported by Acronis Recovery for MS Exchange and its SBS edition.

I would also advise you to take a look at our Acronis Recovery for MS Exchange User's Guide and Quick Start Guide for more details - it contains all the information regarding functionality of the product.

Should you have any further concerns and questions - do not hesitate to leave a comment here - we will be glad to help!

Thank you!
