Migrate Easy: Fails to copy MBR

Thread needs solution

Migrate Easy failed to copy my MBR. New MBR showed a nonsensical menu, and I couldn't make it work.

My MBR menu was from FreeBSD.

I solved the problem by removing the MBR with the standard "fdisk /mbr" solution with an old Windows 97 floppy.

B.t.w.: Is it standard that the source disk gets wiped after cloning a disk with Migrate Easy? Or did I miss an option? Luckily my clone succeeded (after removing the MBR). Otherwise .....

I would strongly prefere if the source disk didn't get touched during the cloning process. Wiping the source disk should be a separate action after you check the cloned disk.

Hello Michiel de Vries,

Thank you for using Acronis Migrate Easy 7.0,

Yes, it's possible to leave source disk without changes. When you perform manual cloning, program asks you what to do with source - wipe it or leave it as is.

Please check chapter 3 of this guide for details.

Thank you.
