Bootable Media - video error

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I purchased upgrade for use with my new workstation (Lenovo W530 - purchased on recommendation from a friend who purchased one with me). I have always used bootable media to make image of base system before installing anything on it. After which I then install Acronis, Office etc... Comes in handy when I need to revert back to clean image to give laptop to another person when I purchase newer unit.

In this case, when I try to boot from CD I get error :Failed to detect graphic output mode. This occurs during initial few seconds of CD booting. I don't even get the Acronis menu to continue. I tried changing bios settings as this laptop has integrated and discrete video, but no variation seems to work.

I had friend bring over his Lenovo W530 (purchase almost at same time). The only difference is that my model has the Color Sensor support and better screen. I tried booting his W530 with the media and it worked and started up fine. To confirm, I also tried my rescue CD from V 11 and same behavior.

Is there anything I can do ? I also sent an email to support, but thought I would post here as well.

Thanks.

You can manually force the Linux environment to try a certain resolution which might solve your problem.

As you see the Acronis Loading.... message, press F11 and this will get you to a command box, type in VGA=ASK, then select a resolution nearest to your laptops resolution. If this still fails, I think the only answer is to make a WinPe based recovery CD for which you will need the PlusPack if this is TI 2013 or Universal Restore if using ABR11.5

You could see if Acronis Support can make you a specific ISO for your machine and as you are in touch with them already, they may be able to help if normal fixes don't work.
