Access denied message when restoring files

Thread needs solution

Running Backup and Recovery 11 Build 11.0.17437 on Win 2008 Server R2. When trying to restore folders, using the wizard, to an external hard drive I receive the following error

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Failed to run the recovery task.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Details:
Code: 589,936(0x90070)
LineInfo: 0xD6E6B1A4069CA4CF;

Module: mms_vs
Message: Failed to run the task: An error occurred while trying to run the task.

Code: 591,829(0x907D5)
LineInfo: 0x9E5D09F7DA87D0C;

Module: mms_vs
Message: Access is denied.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I cannot find mms_vs on the machine and there is no details logged anywhere on what it was trying to do when the restore was denied access.

I have tried running the task as both the administrator id on the machine and the id that is used with acronis and I receive the same error message

Any help is appreciated

Access denied here is related to the recovery task creation, not the restore process. mms_vs module is the name of executable (Program Files\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\mms.exe) .
If you need restore just a few files, and the archive is located not in a managed or tape vauilt, it would be faster to double click the .tib file drag-and-drop files from there.
A few things to check - are you able to create new backup plan or recovery task using other achive? Do you remember changing anything in the machine configuration since recovery worked last time? Do user that runs Managed Machine service has read/write rights to Program Data\Acronis folder?

There are so many files to restore that drag and drop is too time consuming, we were hoping to get the restore process to work so that we can kick it off in the middle of the night and have it take care of itself.

This is the first restore we've needed to do a restore so there is noting to compare this restore back to. Backups were working fine but are now paused so that the we can restore the data before it gets overwritten.

The account that is running the restore has full read/write access to the program folder and sub folders

As a last resort you can recover using bootable media (on some other machine), it supports file restore too.

As it doesn't work on the latest backups, what do I have to do to make the software viable going forward. As it stands the software is useless
