NTLDR after successful recovery

Thread needs solution

I 've recovered by backup successfully to a new 500GB WD C: drive. The recovery validated the backup but NTLDR is still missing after reboot. Do I need to force this drive to be active? I did transfer the MBR.

What version and build are you using?

If the original partition was an Active partition, the restored partition should have been restored as Active. If you just restored the partition, this option would need to be selected.

Where is the image file stored (USB drive, internal drive, network share, etc.)?

Is the "source" drive still installed and enabled in the computer or has the new 500GB drive already been installed in its place?

Was the C: partition the only partition on the source drive?

The origninal C: drive died and is no longer attached to the system.  The replacement C: drive is larger (320GB => 500GB) I did not select restore drive 1. I selected restore C_backup.TIB, then adjusted the resulting drive space to 465.8 GB, then after prompt for next drive moved the MBR to the new C: drive. The Backup .TIB was stored on another SATA drive attached to the system.  There were multiple .TIB files on the backup drive.

Have you verified that the new 500GB drive is the default booting drive in the BIOS?

Was the partition restored as an Active Primary partition? If you're not sure, do you have a partitioning program you can use to check (DD, PartedMagic, GParted, etc.)?

Do you have a standard Microsoft OEM or retail XP CD?

Have you tried restoring the image as an Entire Disk Image (all at once, no resize)? If so, does it boot properly?
