Acronis 2016 no longer backing up

Thread needs solution

I have a Files Backup that fails to run when clicking 'backup now' The log files complain about Cloud backups and expired certificates. I'm not running a cloud backup. I have the destination folder going to my external drive and the folder is accessible. My trial subscription to the cloud expired. I do not wish to use cloud backups. Why are my backups not working now? I am having trouble with my computer and wish to restore my partition and need to take a current File backup first so I can restore the most current version of my files after the partition restore.

Kathy, the log file content that you have posted does not look to have come from a Service log file given its content.

Please download the Log File Viewer app from the link in my signature below and use this to look at the Service log files which are created for each backup task.

Also please check your ATIH 2016 GUI - Account information page and ensure that you still show a valid activated product for which you have a perpetual license, and that you do not have a subscription license product which has now expired?

For some reason my backups are working now. When I was troubleshooting why my Windows 10 Anniversary update was stuck, my Acronis backups did not work. None of my prior attempts created a service log file, either. The last service log that the log file viewer showed was from August 2.

I have no idea if the problem I was having with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update caused the problem with Acronis, but once I solved that, the backups are working.

Kathy, thanks for your feedback. Interesting that cleaning out the Windows Software Distribution would have any effect on whether your Acronis backups work or not.  I can only assume that this might have been associated with the Microsoft VSS service used by lots of different system processes included Acronis for backups.  Good to hear that this is working for you again.

Well, after deleting the files in software distribution, Windows re-downloaded the update and reinstalled. Something must have been wrong with my prior download. So it wasn't only cleaning out the Software Distribution, it was doing that plus having Windows download the update and install it again. This time it didn't get stuck and installed the update all the way through. It could be that in the interum state, something was set that was incompatible with Acronis that prevented the backup from running. Who knows? It's working now - thanks again
