TrueImageHomeService.exe*32 running constantly and chewing up big CPU

Thread needs solution

HI all,

I'm running Acronis True Image 2016 on my Win 7 x64 machine, 16GB RAM, Intel i7 quad core processor.  (The machine is used for making music.)

Lately, the Acronis process described above runs from the moment I start the machine, and it chews up 30-50% of CPU, which has a big impact on my music-making apps.  I can't figure out how to prevent this process from running.  I'm afraid to just kill it in Windows Task Manager, because while it's running the activity lights on tow of my hard drives are flashing.  What do I do to shut it off?

Hi Richard,

The mentioned process only appears when there is a running backup and shouldn't be present all the time in the Task Manager.

In order to resolve the issue, I would recommend you to do the following:

1. Make sure you are using the latest build of the program (currently - 6027), it can be downloaded from your account.

2. Try recreating all the tasks by first deleting them with a special utility.

Follow the Knowledge Base article instructions up to the command "task zap".

After that, recreate the backup plans (you will be able to use the old backup files by clicking on the "Add existing backup" button).

I hope that this helps.

Noted and thanks, will test this and report back.

FYI, the problem may have been solved.  I checked this forum out, and found a post from a guy who found that the program's log function was continuously writing to a log file, chewing up disk and CPU.  I ran the utility file included in a response to that post, and True Image is a lot quiter now, its various processes using less than 1% CPU.

This is the post I referred to:
