WinPE Rescue Media builder fails
Running Windows 10 Home x64 with TI 2016 (build 6027) and Windows ADK for Windows 10, Version 1511
When I run Rescue Media builder and select WinPE-based media with Acronis plug-in, I get:
Choose media destination [I select ‘ISO file’ and give a name and location to save it]
The builder gives a summary page; I then hit Proceed
The builder then gives:
Mounting .wim file
Updating .wim file contents
Failed to create bootable media
Failed to copy the product files
Looks identical to the error reported for TI 2015 in post 79042. However, there IS a WinPE.zip at C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\BartPE
I get the same error whether I choose .ISO or .WIM
Any ideas pls?
PS: I now note, incidentally, that ADK V1511 (the current version) has a MSoft hotfix available to correct another fatal bug that occurs when the resulting WinPE image is booted (" Windows PE initialization failed with error code 0x80220014 ") that would make running the Rescue Media Builder with WinPE (as distributed, without the hotfix) a bit pointless.... MSoft KB3143760 refers.
If this is correct, it perhaps needs a forum Sticky to warn intending users.

Many thanks for tests and most useful post Steve. I had uninstalled and reinstalled TI but hadn't run the Cleanup tool - so will have another go.
And re the MSoft ADK bug and hotfix I mentioned as an aside, are you running with the hotfix installed ? (and if not do your WinPEs boot successfully ?)

Max, sorry for delay in getting back - have checked and I do not have the KB3143760 hotfix for the MS ADK installed and this isn't being offered by Windows Update on my Win 10 systems.
I have done a boot from the WinPE media and all is looking fine so the bug fix doesn't look to be needed on my box.

Decomplexity. Same for me as Steve. I would remove the Acronsi media add-on (not the main application) from Acronis on your system and the Win10 ADK as well. Reboot. Then reinstall the media add-in, making sure you have the latest version avaialble downloaded from your account. Run it by right clicking the installer and "run as administrator" even if logged in as admin already. Then, instead of using the link from the media-add on builder for the Win 10 ADK, use the one in signature below for ADK 10.1 - it's the most current and working fine on 3 systems for me. Download and install the ADK. Reboot when done and then try the medail builder again.

Thanks Steve and Bobbo.
Incidentally, I hadn't realised that the Media Builder was a separately installable (and de-installable) module or that it had its own log!
I will report back on this post when I have followed your joint suggestions

Hi Max, the Acronis media addons module is purely to provide the support for building the WinPE media, it is not required if only using the standard Linux based rescue media. The separate log is useful to check what is happening.

Following Bobbo's recommendations worked - thank you.
I have yet to boot the ISO DVD but intend to do a trial restore on to a spare disk to check if the known Win PE problem with MSoft ADK V 1511 (see MSoft's KB3143760) occurs in practice.

I have now booted the WinPE-based ISO and done an all-partitions recovery to a spare disk. The result booted into Win10 as normal.
I then repartitioned the disk using the repartition feature of TI recovery, did another restore, and this Win10 was fine as well.

decomplexity, glad to hear it. Looks like the new version that came out on Monday has most of the drivers in the default Linux media as well. It also looks like the media builder for WinPE is now included with the install too! If your WinPE is working now though, probably no need to go back and build the new LInux bootable media, but might not hurt to have a copy of both (just in case).
