Creating a secure zone with existing data

Thread needs solution

I have been using ATI for a long time. I thought I would star using a secure zone for my backups.  I have a hard drive I use exclusively for ATI backups. It is about 2/3 full. I haven't found anywhere where Secure Zone is technically explained. I started the process of making the entire drive a secure zone but it appeared that a new partition was going to be created which would wipe out the backup data I already have.

Can someone explain some basics about secure zone? like is this something you should create before you start creating backup with ATI? Can I create a secure zone and include data I already have created? Sorry for the dumb questions but I can't find explanations for these questions.

Thanks

My recollection is that the location of the secure zone is not controlled by the user - it is on the OS drive. However I have not used it for a very long time, probably with True Image 10.

Secure Zone is discussed in section 11.4 of the ATI 2017 User Guide. Ah, in 11.4.2 it says you can select the disk on which the secure zone is located. The secure zone uses FAT32 which means that the backup files will be limited to 4gig, and large backups will be split into multiple files.

I am not convinced that using secure zone is better than backing up in ordinary way. But it is for you to decide how you want to manage your backups.

I agree with Ian. Secure zone really doesn't offer extra protection and can complicate disk partitioning. Use encryption on your backups and general security practices and secure zone is a moot point for most setups these days.
