Differential backup failed, proceeded to full backup - success, but validate fails

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I'm running Acronis True Image Version 2017, Build 8058.  I have been successfully backing up my data on a weekly basis from a desktop C drive to an external USB drive, using a method of 1 full + 5 differentials.  Last night the differential backups 4 and 5 both reported errors (see below).  It then proceeded automatically to the next full backup, which completed successfully according to the software and the logs.  However, when I ran a 'validate' on the full backup, it too reported the same 0x40005 error.  How to I address correcting this?  The external drive is available and no errors have been recorded related to any of the hardware on the system.

Here is the differential log error information:

Kevin, welcome to these User Forums.

Sorry but I would suspect that you may have a failing backup drive here that is starting to give these errors.

I would recommend running CHKDSK E: /R for this drive to do a check for any bad sectors, and see if that brings up any further information.

You should also check the drive makers support website for any diagnostic tools they provide to check the drive integrity.

See the list of support sites in this KB document:
