Does ATI Backup Encrypted Partitions
I am working through Acronis Support regarding the lost of two months of data. Their latest answer was they do not support backing up encrypted partitions. What they said to me was:
"I regret to inform you that if the source is encrypted then Acronis
True Image will have skipped the data. I did check with the expert
team and they have confirmed the same."
Given that I have run off an encrypted drive since Windows XP and have been using ATI since as long as I can remember, with many successful restorations, why all the sudden did ATI quit backing up my data. And where were the warnings that my backup was corrupt? "Backup completed successfully" does give me an indication that there was a problem.
Also doing sector by sector image backup, who cares if the drive is encrypted. It is a sector by sector image. Furthermore, Acronis is able to restore the backup, just missing two months of critical data.
So my question is, why is Acronis now telling me they are unable to back up an encrypted drive?
TIA.

Hi Steve, I am running VeraCrypt with ATI running in Windows while the partition is unencrypted.
I run VeraCrypt instead of BitLocker due to needing to access my Windows partition from Linux. I stopped using BitLocker a couple of years ago. I am rethinking that decision.
I read the KB article and it makes sense, it should also apply to VeraCrypt.
One thing I noticed is that when ATI does the restore, it is sector by sector and the encryption survives, i.e. after the restore I have to put in my encryption password.
I ask the Tech for more information. I'll see what they say.
Thank you.
