Trying to move a license

Thread needs solution

I have followed all the instructions given in the help files and still cannot activate on my new PC.  I am trying to deactivate a license within my account on an old PC, but do not see a way to do that.  When the new PC tells me to activate, it will not activate the new one.  I also have a 5 license pack, with now installs on 4 computers plus the new one..I uninstalled the software from my old retired laptop.  How do I get the new one to activate?

Michael, assuming that your licenses are perpetual and not subscription, then there is no direct method of deactivate a license on one PC before activating it on another.  This is possible with subscription licenses via the Acronis Account pages where there is a 'Manage' option.

For perpetual licenses, you need to activate the license on the new PC in order to get the warning about 'exceeding the number of licenses' which should then give you a method of moving the license if you no longer have any spare licenses left.

See KB 61162: Acronis True Image 2019: "You've exceeded the maximum number of activations for this serial number"

"which should then give you a method of moving the license if you no longer have any spare licenses left."

Unfortunately I follow the instructions but continue to get an error message, and not a method of moving the license when I select "Move license from another computer."

What actual error message are you getting here Michael?

It is this. I have tried turning off firewall.  I have a perfectly good internet connection, so I know it's not that.

Ok, then are you using a VPN or Proxy in your network connection?

Please see KB 61171: Acronis True Image 2019: how to activate the license - which has information on the different methods available for activating the product and troubleshooting issues that may arise.  You may need to use the offline activation method if all else fails!

Thanks, I will try the offline method although it's not clear how this could work for a 5 license package.
