Acronis True Image Home 2012 Activation: Troubleshooting, and Useful Links

Thread needs solution

I have three copies of Acronis True Image Home 2012. I upgraded all three computers to Windows 10, so I had to uninstall it on all three. I do not have the money to get an upgraded version of Acronis True Image right now. I need to access my backups, so I installed Windows 7 in a Virtual Machine on my desktop computer. Everything went well until it came time to activate Acronis True Image. I followed the instructions and got to the proper web page to log in and transfer a license. I entered my proper login credentials and clicked on the button to continue. It did nothing. I know that the email address and password are accurate. I used them to sign in here. The page just sits there and doesn't even try to log me in. How can I get my license tranferred if I can't get the page to log me in?

Yvonne, while you cannot install and use ATIH 2012 within Windows 10 on your three computers, you should be able to still boot those computers from the ATIH 2012 rescue media (on CD or USB stick) and access your backup images in that way outside of Windows.

Hi Yvonne Roche,

While Acronis True Image Home 2012, can not be installed in Windows 10, it could have been left in Windows 7, then upgrade Windows 10 on top of Windows 7. I believe that Acronis True Image 2012 would have run in Windows 10, that way.

Make sure that Windows 7, itself is fully patched to Service Pack 1, in the Virtual Machine.

Try using Waterfox a 64-Bit Browser with Windows 7 and see what happens?

I did have it on my computers when I upgraded. Windows 10 uninstalls it when it is installed.

As for accessing my backups from a rescue disk, that's a good idea. It doesn't address why the page doesn't work, though. I could try using a rescue disk and see if it works. I'll have to make sure the backup is put back on my computer from the external hard drive.

After installing Acronis True Image 2012 on my pc running Windows 7 SP1, I am unable to activate it.

I have tried:

1) Turning off the Windows Firewall

2) Activate from another computer using method described here: https://kb.acronis.com/content/45522

When I paste or load from file the activation code obtained in step 2 above, I get the error message "The activation code is not valid."

Mike, welcome to these user forums.

Sorry but issues related to activation or licensing cannot be resolved by user here, please raise a Support Case directly with Acronis who can verify that you have a valid license for your ATIH 2012 product.

Hi @ Mike M.  ,

How many Licenses for Acronis True Image 2012 did you buy? Did it cover 5 Computers, 3 Computers, 2 or 1 Computers?

Thanks for the heads-up.

I initiated a chat session with Acronis customer support.

While I was waiting, I monitored Acronis True Image 2012 trying to activate and noticed the following:

1) True Image 2012 sends an HTTP POST to http://cpas-test.acronis.com (aka activation.acronis.com) which includes the Installation ID in XML format.

2) The server responds with an HTTP 302 status code that redirects to http://www.acronis.com, but True Image 2012 does not try to connect.

I also registered the serial number with my Acronis Account.

After chatting briefly with Acronis customer support, they asked for a screenshot of the activation error. When I attempted to capture a screenshot of the error, True Image 2012 crashed, so I restarted True Image 2012.

After restarting, True Image 2012 now reports that it activated successfully.

I have 1 boxed version of Acronis True Image for each computer.

I have one copy each of True Image 10, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

I have 2013 installed on a Windows 8.1 laptop, 2011 & 2012 installed on two Windows 7 desktops, and 10 on a Windows XP desktop.

Hi @ Mike M.  ,

Acronis True Image 2012 does not install in Windows 10 at all. I tried it.

Mike, glad to hear that you have ATIH 2012 activated on your Windows 7 SP1 system.
