Create a Full Version After Every x Incrementals not working

Thread needs solution

I'm pretty new to Acronis True Image. I've set up a Custom Scheme based on an Incremental backup method. I checked the box to have a full version created after every 5 incrementals. I created a full and 5 incrementals backups, but the next time the software ran it created a sixth incremental. I have a feeling this is user error, but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Also one of my incremental files seems to be split in two and I'm not sure why. I'm attaching a screen print with all the screens that seem relevant.
Thanks for any help,
Ken

Something occurred after the Backup on Saturday morning but prior to backup time on Sunday morning. Is there a chance you restored your system from a backup or perhaps you made changes to your backup scheme. Anyway, the resulting the 1-2 backup name is the result.

As changes to a working task is not recommended, you can either wait and see it the program straighens out, or you can stop using the backup task and start all over with a new task with a new name and pointing to a new storage folder. If you have the storage room, I would suggest a slightly different backup scheme which will store additonal backups. Having each new full to replace the old full is not a good idea is that you need to retain your backups for a longer period. Most need for a file recovery may not occur until weeks or months later and you need older backups to be retained.

GH12. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme. 6 Inc, Keep 4 chains. The 6-4 is user choice.

I would also suggest you change your backup type from partitition type to disk type so your backup would contain all partitions on your disk and enable you to create a replacment disk--should have have a disk failure or virus infection. Look at the first part of my signature link 2-A.

Thanks, Grover. I think I did do a restore at some point. I usually track these but this is a brand new system I'm building and I don't have all my protocols in place.

I will have to look again at my settings. I did not realize that I was having the full backups replaced with each new one. This was not my intent. Thanks for letting me know.

If I switch my backup type from Partition to Disk, will I be able to restore just the C drive without restoring my D drive if I wanted to?

Thanks,
Ken

Having a disk image backup does NOT limit the restore options. You can still restore single files/folders, single/multiple partitions, or the entire disk. The advantage to having a disk image backup is that it can often make the disk restores (when performing a disk restore) much easier in that there need be no pre-configuring of the partitions during a restore.
