incremental backup keeps running
This is on a Laptop with Windows 7 (latest) 32 bit. This is the latest available True image 2015 home.
I have Acronis backing up to a file share on a Server. I set up an incremental backup and basically left the defaults, but limited the size of the backup to 500Gb. A full backup is taking 59Gb. I have set it to backup daily, with 5 incremental backups per full backup. So I expect a full backup on day 1, followed by an incremental on days 2- 6. Then another full backup on day 7, etc. Etc. What I have gotten is a two full backups and 10 incremental in two days. Why? The first time this happened, I figured something was corrupt in the backup info, so I completely deleted it and started over. It does the same thing. How do I get it to just do what I envisioned it to do? I don't need all this traffic on my LAN all day.

Thanks. I did exactly as you said using your GH12. I set it to do 6 incrementals. I did this last night. It has already done two full backups and all the version chains for each. It seems to be doing a new incremental about every ten minutes. It's like it is doing continuous backup. Once it finishes one incremental, it is starting another one. Once it hits 6 incrementals it is doing another full backup. I guess I need to look at the log and see if anything weird shows up. But this use to work perfectly. It seems like something in the latest update set this off. If I have to go to far in debugging this, I am going to hold off buying 2016. It might be time to find another backup program that is able to do what I tell it to do.

The first place I would look is to edit the task and look at the actual settings inside the schedule to make sure the schedule is still set to daily.
Or change it to weekly and click on each of the days listed so it becomes a daily backup. Recheck the time.
Another option is to look at the scripts folder to make the only scripts showing is the most recent you created.
What you are experiencing I never heard of before.

I'll check that stuff out. But since you never heard of this, that is making me think even more that it is a bug in the latest 2015 home. This was running perfectly fine. I noticed for quite some time there was an update, but had not updated my software. I updated the software, and this issue started.

Unexplained happening such as this, is the reason why I recommend that a user start fresh with all new tasks, etc whenever an upgrade has occurred.
Also, it is another reason why I like to uninstall the old version, run the TI cleanup utility and then do a fresh install.I don't want the program being influenced by past settings.
Not all users need a fresh install but many do.

Hi Grover,
I hope this doesn't make me sound like a troll.
I've been dealing with software for over 20 years, and the reminders that it is a product that were it manufactured by any other industry, would have bankrupted them in months, never cease.
Your experience, and expertise compel you to recommend that users don't upgrade, but instead install from scratch, and do so after running a tool that removes the Acronis software that is not removed by their own uninstall script.
Surely, the engineers know that the upgrade software/process is not reliable, certainly not reliable enough to avoid your admonition against using it. Yet, they produce it anyway. They distribute it without warning. They must also know that their uninstall script leaves behind components from their application, including those that can interfere with installing a newer version. They do these things with impunity, and no accountability - worse, no liability.
Imagine a contractor building a new home, and claiming that the electrical, and plumbing problems you're having are due to the fact that some time in the past there had been a home on that property, or a demolition company that often left some of the building behind. There are appropriate liabilities for those companies that keep them from doing that. But not for software.
Sorry, but sometimes I have to open the pressure release valve.

Sorry to hear of your frustration with the product..Just wanted to say that recommendations shared by Grover are the general sure-fire way to get the error free installation despite the possible glitches in the system or/and corrupted old installations. For most users the update procedure is as smooth as Run -> Next -> Next - > Completed, but this of course depends on how many errors or broken components the system already has, whether the previous installation attempt was interrupted (power outage) or anti-virus software prevented the registry from updating correctly. And in order not to leave the parts of the software behind we have the Cleanup Tool, which makes it simple to remove any leftovers. I wish actually other vendors offer such utilities as I recently got stuck with the unwanted software refusing to uninstall its parts and not detected by other third-party cleaners.
I hope that our software will better suit your needs in the future and welcome you at least to install a free trial once we've released the next version of Acronis True Image.
