TI. 2009 Home: Can I incrementally back-up to "MyBackup.tib"

I would certainly recommend making a new backup without having to ignore any bad sectors. It is good news that CHKDSK did find and fix a problem with bad clusters in a file - the only downside is that there is no information to tell you what the file was.

Thanks Steve, good advice, it'll be a job for tomorrow.
Hopfully then I'll be bombproof! :)

Another day another disappointment!
Set TI to the task of creating a full backup, pointed it at the External disk as the place to store it, noticed at some point that the programme warned it would overwrite the existing file.
Since it takes up all but 72GB of the total 360GB available, it would be hard not to overwrite it!
An hour and a half into the process, TI decides that the external drive doesn't have enough space!
What happened to the "Existing file will be overwritten" Grrr!
Having been given the option to find a suitable space for TI to write to, I deleted the existing backup, which was still showing as exactly the same volume, ie there was no additional information written since the backup of Sunday April 3rd.
TI seemed happy with that and continued on its merry way.
I checked the logs and found that every entry since the "No Space" warning contained "i/o errors", so rather than wait for a further three hours for the inevitable bad news, I aborted the job and started again!
Ho Hum, nothing better to do I suppose!
EDIT:
Finally, I think I have what might be a useable Image!
Despite the programme telling me "It's a Success!", I would like shall we say an "independent" assessment! :D
Seriously though Steve, thank you for all your help and patience, ...I might just get some regular use from this software, now that you have given me the confidence to use it "successfully"!

This has certainly been an epic journey - a touch of War and Peace at times!
Glad to hear that you are feeling a little more confident in the success of your most recent backup task.
If you would like to post a copy of the latest log file for that task, I would be happy to take a quick look at it to give you that independent assessment. Look in C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Logs for the log with todays date.

War and Peace! I don't think I've given you much peace this last week!!
I certainly would value your assessment thanks for offering, log file attached.

Thanks Steve, just got in and coaxed the old dog into life!
I did read the file before posting it, but thought there might be some other hidden or coded info. that was not intended for numpties!
I'm relieved that I now have a full and viable image in case of problems.
My fears for the HDD were it seems unfounded, despite its age, so I think I can forgive it a few bad clusters!
The old dog that is Vista staggers on, ...for now!
I'm grateful for your help, now I can turn my attention to digitising my vinyl, and cassettes and building one of these "NUC" machines for day-to-day use!
