[RESOLVED] After Update failure - CANNOT DE-INSTALL True Image 2012

Thread needs solution

I use the TI 2012 and the PP option. (German Version)

This has been working well until the automatic update occured which failed. I then tried "reparing" which
also failed.

What is really bad is the fact I cannot de-install Acronis True Image 2012 this fails as well.
I treid deleting maually but that did not work either - the CD staill start with the "mofidy, repair of de-install" menus.

Can some one help me - I cannot perfom my weekly backup and that is crutial!!

I consdier this inability of Axcronis to de-install its own product as beuing very sub-optimal.

I enclose the error text

Welcome bonzadog,
I'm on a tablet so am having a little difficulty searching your log which is rather large.

I see evidence of a trial version. A failed upgrade attempt, then a failed uninstall and no rollback to the previous version. I also see complaints that your back up scripts are no longer present.

If you have manually deleted folders, your back up scripts will not be recoverable unless you have them exported and backed up elsewhere.

A fresh install of the latest build is recommended.

Start by downloading the build 7119 installer from your Acronis User Acct.
https://www.acronis.com/my/products/ You should visit the .de German website

Then download the 2012 clean up utility here:
http://kb.acronis.com/content/24545

If you have tasks you wish to save, you can export them (optional) Won't apply to you

Uninstall the existing version using windows Program & Features. Now run the clean up utility and FOLLOW all instructions in the thread.. Reboot and perform a clean install of 7119. Reimport your tasks if applicable.

Post back with your results.

Hi, Thanks for your posting.
My Verion of TI 2012 is a full version and the serial numbers were register in Acronis.

The main problem was the software being unable to perfome a remove.

I'll give the cleaner a try.....

Many thanks BD

Try turning off all non-microsoft services and all startup programs using msconfig.exe
then run the cleaner, then install the update, then return to normal startup.

This isn't always necessary but it makes uninstalls/installs less liekly to suffer any conflicts with other programs.

@shadowsports.

"Then download the 2012 clean up utility here:
http://forum.acronis.com/forum/29352"

There seems to be no cleanup module there only a message on "29352: Synchronisation - feed could not be found"

@Scott Hieber : Thanks for the info, Mr. Hieber , I had removed some active programms but not all. But surely a de-install program
must work without this. The issue also appears to be that a batch or active programme exists outside of the installation
directorty. I had also deleted' the - in toothsome German - C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\"users"\Anwendungsdaten\Acronis.

My databackup is now getting seriously delayed, I am starting to look for an alternative Programme.
A pity -- I have been with True Image for many years.

Forgive me. I referenced the wrong link:

@shadowsport

Many thanks für the new link. My Acronis activation at boot time by pressing an F-key is still active. I hope I can
deactivate it.
Perhaps is would be a good idea for Acronis to add the cleanup + documenation to the installations DVD,

All the best and thank you again!..

Hi all,
Sorry about the delay in confirming that my problem has been resolved.

My thanks to Shadowsports and Scott Hieber.

best regards
