I am using Disk director 10 and windows xp. I am trying to merge 2 partitions. I have instaled a new 80gb hard drive on my father in laws laptop. It previously had a 40gb hd. I restored an image I made of his c drive but when I look at the hard drive in disk management it shows a unallocated partition. How do I mahe this into usable space and merged with the C drive? operating system is xp home with all updates.

I am looking for clear instructions on how to do this

You can't merge partitions and unallocated space. Also, I don't recommend using the Merge feature since it can cause data loss if it fails.

Can you post a screenshot of what DD shows for the drive? You may just need to resize C: larger.
