Windows 7 limitations and compatibility

Thread needs solution

Hi guys,

I want to take an image of a partition (Partition 1 Drive ) that has been installed with Windows 7.

I intend to use Acronis TrueImage Echo Workstation (+Universal restore).
My computer has a dual boot to XP and Windows 7 (Ultimate)

I need to be REALLY sure about integrity and reliability...

1.
If I install this product on Windows 7, and will it make reliable backups that can be restored under Windows 7?

2a
If I run a backup and restore of a Windows 7 partition, (using an XP partition with Trueimage installed) can I make perfect reliable backups?

2b
Can these Windows 7 partitions be restored using Acronis TrueImage installed on a bootable XP Partition?

2c
Can these Windows 7 partitions be restored using Acronis TrueImage installed on a bootable Windows 7 Partition?

2c.
Can these Windows 7 partitions be restored using an Acronis TrueImage Recovery CD?

Thanks

Pete

Yes but you have to go through a few hoops with the Windows 7 restore disk along with the TI Boot disk.

Took a while but I got my partitions back and restored the M.S. Windows boot manager. Was quite scarred at first as the Win 7 rescue disk could not see either partition.

Yeah, dual-booting with XP is tricky.
You can backup and restore just fine on a dual-boot system with the recovery media, though.
One caveat; if XP was installed first, and you restore XP, you will have to recover the Windows 7 Boot Manager, as Chris indicated.
