Bad sectors although Check Disk was OK

Thread needs solution

Hello,

When I do a full backup from the emergency CD, I get a message that there are some bad sectors so I should first go into Windows and run Check Disk to repair the sectors.

I did that and there were no bad sectors, but I still got the message. I continued on with the backup, and halfway through I had to press "Ignore All" so that it would continue backing up.

I downloaded the SNAPAPI file recommended for this problem, but it didn't work.

Thanks in advance for any information on this problem.

I have Acronis True Image Home 2010 and Windows 7.

Hello M S,

I will do everything possible in order to resolve the issue you experience but first can you please clarify have you tried to run chkdsk utility with /r parameter:

- Go to the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd)

- Enter the command: "chkdsk DISK: /r" (where DISK is the partition letter you need to check) for every partition that is visible in My Computer. Please note, that checking the C: drive may require you to reboot the machine.

If the issue persists please download ISO image based on ISOLinux from your account under Registered Products and create Acronis bootable disc using third-party software. ISOLINUX Bootable Media is usually more up to date than the Acronis Loader one. This is due to the fact a new version of Acronis Bootable Media is uploaded to the website more frequently than regular product updates are released. Check the following article for more details.

If the issue remains please attach Acronis Report utility to your next reply available at http://download.acronis.com/support/AcronisReport.exe Please compress the Acronis Report output file into an archive (e.g. with WinZip).

This would provide us with detailed information on the hard disk partition structure.

Let us know the results.
