feedback on features disabled in the trial version

Thread needs solution

I'm using the latest trial version, and the features that I am most interested in are not available:

clone disk partition - if you clone a bootable windows 7 partition to another disk, can you make that partition bootable on the target disk? Is this easy to do?

universal restore - if you have a partition image just how easy is it to restore to a new disk that may not be the same make as the original? The image I have was taken from a Samsung SpinPoint and the target is a smaller Western Digital Caviar drive (with enough room for the partition).

Many thanks for your help...

Michael,

For most systems cloning a disk will make it active and bootable if the disk you cloned from was active and bootable. There are some brand name laptops (mainly) that use a non standard disk layout and their BIOS can't auto find the boot sector after a clone, though this is easily solved.

For the Home version Universal Restore is the PlusPack, you don't need the PP if you are just using a different brand or size of drive. The PP is required if you need to add software drivers to a restore, it is rare to need special drivers for standard disks these days or if your disks have a GPT or Dynamic Disk layout. Otherwise you can resize the partitions to the new drive with the standard TIH.
