Deleting old backups

Thread needs solution

I wish to delete old backups from my external hard drive.
As I understand it I need to make them visible in the backup list before being able to delete them.
I don't wish to use the delete all option because I want to keep the latest version.

When I right click on the "Explore & Recover " option of the backup in the backup list I get the following message "Specify location of Version 1". All of the backup files on my external drive have names such as "Data_(10).tib, Data_(10)2.tib, Data_(11)5.tib etc.

How do I know which is Version 1?

If you have already deleted .tib backup files that are associated with a task, when you click on explorer and recover Acronis looks for each file in the chain of backups. The message you are seeing is that Acronis can not find the .tib file that was the first version in a particular chain of backs. You would need to tell Acronis to ignore each of these backup files it is looking for. There could be quite a few messages like this if you deleted a bunch of files. Once you have told Acronis to ignore each of these versions, you should be able to continue with the Explore and recover screen. It is best to delete the versions from within Acronis while using the explore and recover window. You can right click on a date and a menu will appear that allows you to delete the individual versions. If you last backup is a full, you can delete all of the other backups listed. It may be a good idea to move the last backup to a new folder, and delete the entire task. The create a new task and point a new backup folder and start a new chain of backups. Once you have a new full, you could then delete the backup file you saved earlier if you wish. Be sure to check out Grover's True Image guides. There is a link on the left of the forums screen.

Glad you have it worked out.
