Help with Full Backup Error

Thread needs solution

Hi,
I am new to Acronis and this forum, thanks in advance for the help! I am trying to do a full backup to a Synology NAS via FTP and it keeps failing (approx 50% complete) with the following: I am running XP Pro if that helps. Please let me know if I need to provide anything else. I tried looking up this code, but it didn't give me any information?

Gary

Do you have to connect to the Synology via ftp?

What version of TI are you using?

You could try using a smaller split size (2GB or just under) and see if it helps.

James,
I don't want to use FTP, but that is another issue. My Synology Assistant does not recognize the NAS. I booted in safe mode with networking and it finds it fine. I rebooted and brought down firewall and virus software and it still doesn't find it? Any ideas? The only way i could get Acronis to recognize it is via FTP. If you have other suggestions, i am willing to try them..

Mudcrab,
I have true image 2010.

Try using a split of 2GB or less. My understanding is that FTP may have problems with files larger than 2GB. Can you see the size of the split file when the backup errors?

ANy ideas on how to use the backup without using FTP? What I can do to make XP recognize it like a regular drive?

I think that's more of a problem with Windows than TI. You could try mapping a drive letter, but that usually doesn't work if the task uses the SYSTEM account and doesn't have access to it.

Does the NAS have any configuration options? Maybe a different setting would work better.

Well, I was able to do a workaround. I brought up the PC in SafeMode and mapped the NAS as a network drive (with reconnect at logon option) rebooted and the was able to point the TI backup to the mapped drive and it worked with no errors! Thanks for your suggestions
