how to merge partitions

Thread needs solution

this question has likely been posited many times but i don't know the keywords to search for it, so it is being posted yet again... and i can't find an appropriate category for it -- Moderators: please move this post to its appropriate resting place.

i pose the question to the Acronis Board, rather than the many MS-themed forums, because their "MVP" 's, "Community Stars," and other credentialled Walter Mitty's don't know squat, versus Acronis's intimate knowledge of booting mechanisms.

to the point: suppose i have six partitions on C:\ ... say W7; XP; one Linux; one FreeDos; and two data partitions.

and suppose this computer has died and the replacement computer's C:\ comes with W8.

and suppose that i have dutifully created my ATIH 2011 Image.

i want to place the aforesaid six partions onto the replacement computer's C:\, in addition to the W8.

what is the procedure?

Correction: ignore this response.
Yes, you can create a replacement disk. The key would be to have a full and complete backup which included all 6 partitions.

If restoring to the same size disk, you would probably want to use item 2 at this link.
If restoring to a different size disk, you would probably use item 1 at this link.

Edit & correction:
A disk restore of your backup would make the new computer to have the same OS as the old computer.

If you want the new computer to retain W8, and restore the other 6 partitions, you would need to create the addition partitions manually and then restore each individually from your backup. Most would not boot and would need adjustments/repairs manually..

Perhaps some of the other users of Win8 can respond. I am running XP Pro and have not had experience with your type setup.
