can't create boot up media

Thread needs solution

2012 home When I try to create bootable disk for emergency startup, I get a disc titled recovery, but it is not bootable and does not have the necessary content to run Acronis. How do I create a working recovery disk? Thanks. esmo

Morton,

In addition to creating the Rescue Media directly on a CD/DVD, you have an option to create an ISO file that can then be used to create a bootable CD/DVD using separate burning software. If you don't have any software that can burn ISO image files to a CD/DVD , Imgburn is a good free package that can do the job. Also be sure that your system is set to boot from a CD/DVD first, in the boot order option in your BIOS. Some systems will allow you to choose the boot device when starting up the computer by pressing the appropriate "F" key during system startup. Please check your system documentation for information on how to enter the system BIOS setup and make changes to the system boot order.

Morton,

Adding to James' post: if you have a recent motherboard and your computer is using UEFI bios (you'd have a 64-bit OS to boot to a GPT disk), switch the BIOS back to legacy BIOS (or whatever the term for your MB) to boot on the CD.
