Email Backup Hangs at various points

Thread needs solution

I am trying to backup my outlook 2010 using True Image Home 2011 with the plus pack installed, but the jobs starts and gets to various points and then just hangs and goes no further.

The computer is running windows 7 64bit with the latest update for TIH, and is backing up to a Raid 5 NAS. The full system backup runs with out issues but the email fails everytime. Outlook is not running while the backup is trying and the process for outlook is not running either.

Does anyone have any ideas as to a solution?

Thanks

Hello all,

Thank you for posting.  I will do my best to help you.

I would suggest this KB article that shows how to create e-mail backups and if it fails to resolve the issue, please collect this report and contact our Support team so that we can help you solve this problem.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

The problem is not email notifications, its email backup. My 2010 worked fine but the new 2011 hangs up forever (2 days)

I think I know whats wrong, the MY Documents folder is pointing to my G:drive where my email files are. Acronis is locking the c: drive during the email backup (most users have the My Documents folder pointing to the c:drive, the default setting). How can I get Acronis to lock the G: drive during email backup?

Ray,

I was guessing that was another case where the user has relocated its default mail folder. You cannot configure email to look for another location.

What you could do is backup your folders as a regular file backup. This won't backup your email settings for outlook, but with Windows live mail you should be OK.

In parallel, follow up with Anton to determine whether this is indeed a bug.

I have the same email backup hanging problem on my windows 7 64 local disc with document folders (inc email) on my M: drive (not C:).

Is a fix to this issue being worked on?

Andrew,

I don't know about the fix, but you could:
- use a file backup to backup your mailboxes within your documents folders,
- try a mail backup to backup your account settings.

NB: mail backup just doesn't work on my win 7 x64 machine. So I don't use it. I just backup the Windows Live Mail folder from c:\users\ABC\appdata in addition to including in system images.

Hi Pat,

Until the program is fixed, it looks like I'll have to do what you suggest. Hopefully there will be a fix release soon which will also mend the email notification issues too.

Thanks,
Andrew

I still have this problem with the newest Acronis 2012 update. Do you know if this problem is fixed in 2013 release?
