Restoring to a NEW, disk with TrueImage 2013
I have a desktop PC with only ONE hard drive. I have made a full backup of the drive using TrueImage 2013. Now, I remove the old hard drive and replace it with a factory fresh hard drive, no partitions, no data, never been written to. The new drive is the exact same size and model of the old drive. I now boot with the bootable recovery disk made by TI2013. I select the entire image (from my network drive) with the system, mbr, and other partitions to restore. When I get to the part where is asks for a place to restore the image to, it does not see the new disk (don't forget it is the only disk in the system). I read a FAQ that says you need to use the "Add Disks" option to add a drive to you PC and delete existing partitions, data, etc. However, this doesn't apply in my situation, or does it in some way? Your help is appreciated. Thank you.

Good question. I should probably check that. It will be Sunday before I can get to swapping drives again and I'll report back with the results. Assuming it does see the drive, should Acronis see it as well even if it's a brand new drive?

Brand new hardware isn't always supported, yet, in current version of ATI. Each update tends to add support for more hardware. If your drive isn't yet supported, the Plus Pack would allow you to create Recovery media with WinPE environment that would support your drive.

Since it's the exact same drive as the one that was originally in there wouldn't it recognize it?

Have you ever used the bootable Rescue Media before?

No, never used the bootable rescue media before! Looked simple enough (or so I thought). Seems like something that should be a number one request and very basic.

Thanks for all the comments. I'll check to make sure the BIOS recognizes the disk, then if needed, I'll upgrade to plus!

Before you upgrade, go through Add New Disk from the recovery disk. This will initialize the disk. That might not solve the detection issue, if there is a detection issue...

Just to update everyone that is or may be interested, Pat's suggestion was what was needed to get this to work. It worked flawlessly, once I finally got around to doing it! Thanks Pat and everyone else that contributed.
