Acronis 2013 - upgrading to Windows 8 Pro
I have Acronis TI Home 2013 installed on Windows 7. Are there any issues with activation/licensing after the upgrade?
Thanks for any help.

Even is Acronis 2013 needs to be re-activated, you will be able to do so after the Windows 8 upgrade.
Post here if you have any problems when doing so.

I didn't see any issues, but I had to repair install 2013 after the upgrade because the scheduler didn't work.

I have just upgraded to W8 and find that two devices have problems.
1. Acronis TIB Mounter
2. Acronis Virtual Disc Bus
So far I have not found a solution.

Try and perform a repair install of 2013. Open the original 2013 installer .exe file and select "Repair".

I have tried to reinstall using repair but received an error with a message to contact support.
The error file is too big to attach.

I would apply the clean up utility found here http://kb.acronis.com/content/34876
Follow all instructions carefully. Do not let the utility reboot the system before your complete the last 2 checks.
Then reboot and reinstall.

What is the error message when you try to reinstall in Windows 8?

Error is "This program has compatibility issues"
Then it tells me to go to Acronis website to look for updates

Oh and this comes up.... Your version of Acronis True Image isn't compatible with this version of Windows. :(

Glenn,
What build of 2013 are you using?
If you run the TIH installer do you see a remove True Image option?
Does any part of 2013 show up in Windows Programs and Features (check under both Acronis and True Image)?
Try extracting the MSI installer and see if you can install directly. To extract the installer, run the standard installer file, right click on Install True Image from the splash menu and select 'extract', run the extracted MSI installer, make sure you right click the installer file and 'Run as Admin'.
Do you have other Acronis software installed?
If all this fails, you might need to download the Acronis cleaner utility which will remove any remaining registry entries of True Image.

I decided to go back to W7 because the DVD player stopped working and I could not find an updated driver.
Thanks to TI, it was an easy process.
Thank you for your advice and help.

I had the same DVD drive not working issue in Windows 8 (not an upgrade, but a full install) on one of my systems. If you had removed the disk controllers from Device Manager and then had Windows rescan for hardware changes, the controllers would have been re-installed and then the DVD drive would have been re-detected and the correct CD/DVD drivers installed.
If you are referring to DVD movie playback you could have registered for a free copy of Windows Media Center here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/feature-packs

Hello, I upgraded from Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit to Win 8 Pro 64 bit and now True Image Home w2013 backups fail every time. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and the backups still fail. Any ideas? Prior to the upgrade the backups worked fine.
thanks,

Kevin,
Can you be more specific about the errors you are receiving? Can you save and attach a log file here for review?
One thing to try is to create a new backup task and see if that task works okay.

I have attached a log file for the failed backup.
I have tried three times now using both incremental and differential backups. All of the backups failed at less than 10% complete. I do not receive error codes just that the last backup has failed. I hope the log file can give more insight on the issue.

Kevin,
It looks as though Acronis can not lock the volume. You can try re-installing the SnapAPI module.
Here is the download for 2013: https://kb.acronis.com/system/files/content/2005/12/1515/snapapi_1088_s…
Download the file, then extract the .msi file and run it. Then restart your system.
Try a backup again after the SnapAPI update.
If this doesn't help, you can un-install 2013 and then run the 2013 cleanup utility, reboot, and then re-install 2013.
