False low space warning
I have just started evaluating TIH 2013.
I set the low space warning to 100 GB. The backup paused, with a low space prompt, when disk space on the target drive dropped to about 850 GB. The backup was about 80% complete at this time.
The destination is an internal MBR drive with 2 TB capacity.

There is more than 825 GB free space. I do not use consolidation or image retention rules. I was creating a full backup. A full backup takes about 42 GB.

Could I be permitted to join this topic? I have what appears to be a similar problem, using the ATIH trial product, build 5551. I am attempting to backup a 29 GB folder onto a 500GB USB drive that has 395 GB spare (i.e. more than 10 times the space I need). The backup attempt fails: ITIH informs me that there is not enough space on the target drive and calculates that I need 4.8 TB of space. btw the TOTAL amount of space (free + used) on all the hard disk in my system, assuming that I count my RAID 1 drive twice, is only 2.4 GB; the total amount used is about 800 GB. Why is ATIH attempting to back up more than 5 times this amount?
Will ATIH give me an idea of the content of the additional 80% of data it has found? This would be very helpful to know: it might contain the correct serial numbers for the next running of the National Lottery, of the secret for cold fusion or something equally likely.....

Are both of you using a RAID setup? There has been a report by someone else of getting this when using a RAID.
I'll see if I can find the post and any resolution.

No RAID here. All SATA ports are set to AHCI.

The low space warning actually seems to be more like the allocation of a quota.
I think Acronis has confused the water here because of the way it has implemented this.
The low space warning should send the email when the free space on the drive falls below the specified amount.
What appears to happen is that the free space warning is sent when the occupied space exceeds the specified amount - this is a quota.
The problem with the way it is implemented is that when the "alarm" is raised an active backup will stop and require user intervention before it can continue.
In my case I use automatic consolidation to manage the space the backup location and set the amount to be occupied to a level where the backup should always be able to succeed. However there may be occasions when there is an unexpected increase in the backup size due to something you are doing - like burning a blu-ray DVD with all of your images and the 20GB+ of the images will take up space in the temporary folder of your AppData directory. In this instance I would like to be warned that the free space on the backup target has fallen below the specified amount. I can then take action to remedy the situation.
The low space warning should be 100% independent of the occupied space on a disk and should ONLY be activated when the FREE space on the device HAS fallen below the specified amount. Setting this warning should NOT impinge on the capability of a backup task to run to completion.
This was mentioned during the beta testing but Acronis so far has not fully appreciated the issue.

Hello Everyone,
Thank you for your posts and we appreciate your feedback.
Due to time constraints and other factors we have not implemented this feature in our software yet. We do appreciate your interest and hopefully we will be able to implement in a future version of our product.
Initially the low-space warning was designed to warn users about low disk space in order to prevent operating system and other programs malfunction.
Thank you.
