Like a Charm...

Thread needs solution

I installed Windows 7 and after 3 days it started crashing. I used TI 2009 to restore my Vista image back and was up and running in a little over 20 minutes...

After some reevaluation - I reinstalled Windows 7 again... but this time after I connected to the internet, ran Windows Updates, got Norton 360 up to speed I installed Acronis 2010 and imaged it. Then I created the bootable rescue media - booted from it and restored the image back. Worked just like a charm... now I have something to go back to (instead of the beginning on an OS install) if something goes wrong with any application/driver I install from this point forward.

This is why this program is such a useful tool. Just wanted to pass along how I got it right after getting it wrong. Hopefully it will help others.

Rock on Acronis! You have always proved yourself worth the money...

Sandy:

Whenever I install a new operating system I do exactly what you've done. Also, as you customize your new OS, install new programs, download new drivers, etc., it helps to create images frequently. I generally make one a day until everything is completely finished and working to my satisfaction.

Boy are you right. Unfortunately I have a tendancy of learning the hard way - by doing it wrong first.

I have also been imaging as I go along. So far so good - the system seems rock solid right now... keeping my fingers crossed. I do like Windows 7 better. I think it's worth the trouble...

I also like TI 2010 a lot better than TI 2009 - less confusion, less chaos, more streamlined - kinda like Windows 7 is compared to Vista. Just get it done and don't bother me with "noise."

Thanks for your feedback!
