Sony duo 11 ultrabook calls your recovery media unsupported operating system

Thread needs solution

Dear Sir,

I recently bought sony duo 11 ultrabook, loaded my copy of acronis 2011. Created recovery media on a USB drive. Now when i boot up it says unsupported operating system. What do i do now ? How can I use acronis 2013 on my sony vaio ?

Is this a Windows 8 system with Secure Boot?

If as Tuttle suspects you have Windows 8 on your new Ultrabook, you will need to update to True Image 2013 if you wish to make images from within Windows, in the meantime you can use the recovery CD you already have, assuming it can recognise your hardware and drives.

Sorry guys for being late. Was in and out of conferences. I have win 8 preloaded OEM by sony, win 8 64 bit. I have also loaded acronis 2013. I had bought two licenses one for my desktop , one for this sony vaio duo 11. I don't understand what do you mean by win 8 with secure boot. Pl clarify.

When you boot your laptop, press F2 (or some other key, depending on your model) to enter the BIOS. Under the BOOT section, you should see the secure boot option. Disable this first, then enable legacy boot. Then boot on the recovery CD. BEfore rebooting in Windows, follow the previous steps backwards.
