Using Acronis as syncing software

Thread needs solution

Hi

I have a new Synology 413j NAS.

I want to have some of my data sync and available to view as mirror folders, not as a backup, and that the source folder will be the master (not both ways).

The reason I want to do it with Acronis cause I also wants to do backup and images, but some of my data I want mirror.

Thanks,

Ady.

Acronis comes with built-in simple sync software. It is a bidirectional synchronization with no version retention. As long as you don't make changes on the NAS, you will have effectively a mirror on the NAS.
There is a trial for the software. Give it a shot.

Thanks

I just tried, too scary is the bidirectional ... too risky for photographers.

You might want to try out SyncBack SE. THis is what I use. Lots of features and flexibility. I really like the fact you can verify the copies and that you can have retention rules.

Thanks, I will check it out. Looks a bit old fashion interface compared to the acronis, but I will give it a try.

Ady,

Genie Timeline does a good job as well and is easy to use. It is rather a backup software, but without a proprietery container. So the files are left "flat" on the backup drive, but with an extension to capture the version/time. Genie Backup Pro has a regular mirror feature. I used all of them in the past. I wouldn't rely on Genie's disaster recovery if your system disk has several hidden partitions. Imaging software like Acronis is the best solution to restore OS and programs.
