How to get installation support?

Thread needs solution

I have a problem installing 2013; the automated KB search results don't apply, the article says to contact support. I go to the relevant page, it asks me to log in, then will only allow me to get support for the products I have previously registered - and since I haven't been able to install 2013 I haven't registered it, so I'm not allowed to get support for it. The products I have registered are no longer supported, so the email options and so on are greyed out.

This is worthy of Kafka. How exactly do I get official support for an installation problem? I have an MSI log and the CBS log it refers to ready to send, but can't find any way to send them.

In case anyone can help, this is a nasty installation problem where the machine locked up during the first installation attempt, leaving the partial installation in a mess. Subsequent attempts to install fail with this sequence from the MSI log:

MSI (s) (78:0C) [07:27:28:099]: Assembly Error:The manifest file contains one or more syntax errors.
MSI (s) (78:0C) [07:27:28:099]: Note: 1: 1935 2: {98CB24AD-52FB-DB5F-A01F-C8B3B9A1E18E} 3: 0x800736B5 4: IAssemblyCacheItem 5: Commit 6: Microsoft.VC80.CRT,publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.762",processorArchitecture="x86"
MSI (s) (78:0C) [07:27:28:099]: Assembly Error (sxs): Please look into Component Based Servicing Log located at %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log to get more diagnostic information.

Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.762",processorArchitecture="x86"'. Any help on how to get through to support with this would be welcome (as would any help with the problem itself of course).

Many Thanks,
jjf

I've realized I was confused between 'registration' and 'activation', not as Kafkaesque as I thought ;). I've now registered TI 2013, opened an email ticket with support, and sent the logs.

If anyone here happens to know how to clean up this problem I'd appreciate suggestions.

Have you tried redownloading the installer file just in case the original was corrupted?

You could also try extracting the MSI installer from the Acronis wrapper, though in your case I don't think that will help. I take it you aren't having problems installing other software that uses the MSI installer.

To extract the installer file, run the Acronis installer as far as the installation menu screen, right click on 'install' and select extract. The extracted installer will be in the same folder your acronis installer is in, click this and see if you get any further.
