Home 2011 PC Dead can applications be restored to the new PC or just files?

Thread needs solution

Also where would I pull the original 2011 Home install files from so I can read the image on the external HDD?

You cannot restore applications separately from the OS.
You can restore content separately from OS and Apps.
You can restore the image of computer A to computer B, but you need the Universal Restore feature on the recovery CD that is produced with the paid-for Plus Pack installed on your computer.
You can download the 2011 install files from your ACronis.com account after you have registered your serial number there.

He still has the CD I made him when I purchased the product awhile back. I hope I put the universal restore into it. So with that said, I could restore his Vista image onto the new PC with that tool, OR re-install the applications he has (hoping that the Vista install discs will install clean onto WIndows 7) and then work on moving the data back (photography organization databases mostly) off the external USB?

Basically it for options?

Thanks!

Yep, except that I wouldn't install Vista on top of Windows 7. I keep Windows 7, install the apps he had in Vista, and then move the content.
