Try&Decide 'Not Responding' in Windows 8 pro 64-bit

Thread needs solution

I'm using Windows 8 Pro 64-bit, and I noticed that every time I put Try&Decide on, the hand stops moving then 'Not Responding' will show up and freezes. The weird part is that if I close Try&Decide down via the Task Manager, about a few seconds later I get the notification pop-up from the system tray that Try&Decide has started and then on it's working fine. Bear in mind that the problem isn't intermittent, it's happening every time.

I'm wondering if Acronis or you're aware of this problem? To add more information, I was using True Image 2013 on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit before and I never had the freezing/not responding problem until I moved onto Windows 8. I didn't choose the upgrade path, instead I did the clean install for Windows 8 Pro.

Unfortunately I can't try this out for you as my W8 install is on a VHD and T&D sees VHD's as dynamic disks.

Have you tried a repair install?

Could you give some information about the disks you are using?

Thanks for replying. No I haven't tried the repair install yet. I'll give it a go. Oh, my internal disk for my C: drive is Seagate Barracuda SATA 3 2TB 7200rpm (ST2000DM001) and for my backing up to my external drive is Western Digital MyBook 500GB. The Seagate disk is quite new, I got that this August and Western Digital is quite old, about 5-6 years old.

Ok I tried the repair install and it's a bit better but still hangs. No longer doesn't say 'Not responding' but takes too long. The hand sticks and the Try&Decide pane hangs for about 2-3 minutes and then working. This behaviour is something I never see in Windows 7.

Morning... I am having the same problem with acronis 2013 - on win8 64bit...hangs whenever I bring up the TrueImage screen, the first time I click anywhere on the screen it hangs forever. I have "repaired", re-installed, un-installed & re-installed, un-installed... cleaned the registry of all Acronis 'droppings'... re-installed 'new' downloaded copy on a different partition" and guess what? - same hang. Acronis has the same response... I betcha Acronis isn't playing nice with Windows updates which have been installed. any comments???

Kevin,

For your problem try -

Disabling fast boot in Windows 8. If that makes no difference try this updated file ti proxy.
