"only one drive" message when cloning

Thread needs solution

Hello Friends,
I bought a 500gb Western Digital drive from Crucial to clone my current Seagate drive to.
I have the new Western drive mounted in my laptop,
I mounted the source Seagate in an external case and wired to a USB on the laptop.
I booted to my True Image 2013 and selected "Clone Disk"
I get the "Unable to Continue. You have only one drive."
The specs on the equipment and hardware are as follows:
Op System / Source Drive: Windows 7 Professional 64bit /Seagate ST9320423AS 320gb
Laptop: HP ProBook 6455b
Destination Drive: Western Digital Model#WD5000BPKT-00PK4T0 500gb

I tried using all 3 usb ports on the laptop. I also booted True Image then pluged in the source and waited 60 seconds and tried with no luck. Is there something in the BIOS I should be doing? Any help would be appreciated. The source drive works fine as well as everthing else when connected normally.

After booting from the CD, before you choose Clone Disk,
Select "Add new disk" and select the new WD blank disk and delete the partitions.
This will cause or confirm the WD to be unallocated space and the disk will be initialized.
Then try the clone.

Thanks for responding Grover.
The next screen asks for MBR or GPT layout. Whats you suggestion based on the op system?

I also connected another external drive and got the "Choose clone mode" screen next so the program is working. The problem must be the WD drive/format or hardware its mounted to/with.

I tried MBR and GPT without luck. I'm thinking somethings up with the connection. I'll look into the case and wire and report back. Thanks Grover

Thanks for the help Grover. Being a rookie at most all advanced computer tasks or repairs this forum is a vital resource for me. I noticed that even though the light on the external case was on, the drive didn't seem to be spinning. I purchased a new Dynex enclosure and cable yesterday. I also read in the literature that a new drive had to be "initialized" as you directed. After installing the new enclosure and cable I initialized the drive for GPT layout and I'm pleased to annouce the clone process completed successfully.
Not that it matters to me, I thought at the end of the clone process a screen briefly flashed by that read something about MBR. I suppose maybe it cloned in MBR anyhow. I'm not sure but as I mentioned it doesn't matter at this point. I'm glad to have a solid backup of my operating program now since my last laptop's drive crashed and atleast I can protect from that scenario now.
