Build 5551 win8 system restore off after recovery

Thread needs solution

When I recover backups with windows system restore on I notice it gets disabled, and there's a C(missing) system restore. Also event viewer system didn't do a clean shutdown every I recover a back up. Are these problems normal if I do backups from windows instead of Acronis boot disk?

No the problems you mention are not normal. :)

What do you mean by, Event viewer doesn't do a clean shutdown, how do you know, do you have eevent Viewer running in a Window all the time?

I'm not sure what you mean by "there is a C(missing) system restore, could you please give more details, posibbly a screen shot would be helpful?

Are you making file and folder backups or disk/partition images?

I mean in event viewer it say the system didn't do a clean shutdown. I just back-up and recover from the boot media. Seem like I didn't get the Kernel-power clean shutdown error but, the system restore doesn't get restore properly.

When you restore, 2 things are going to happen that explain that behavior:
(a) If possible, ATI will try to put the sectors back at the same place on the disk, even if you didn't do a sector by sector backup. Otherwise, sectors will not be necessarily restored exactly at the same spot on the disk. This can invalidate the pointers Windows use to find the system protection shadow copies,
(b) the time stamps stored to the disk do not match the time stamps stored in the registry that track the shutdown: this happens when the system is rebooted by ATI for a restore from Windows.
