Backup fails immediately

I am trying to use the trial version of ABR 11.5. Whenever I try to run a backup job, the backup fails immediately.

The error message is "Failed with error", with no additional information. The event log is empty.

All Acronis services appear to be started.

I am running Win7x64.

Any help is appreciated.

By default, log view shows 'activities'. If you switch the dropdown list to 'events' - is there something meaningful? Also, if you run the backup creating a backup plan (not using 'backup now' button), an error may be displayed in details of backup plan - go to 'backup plans and tasks', select the plan, expand the bottom panel, go to 'error' tab if it is there.

Here is the event log entry when I tried to run a backup:
