True image 2013 build 6514 don't boot on windows 8
Hi,
Can anyone help me on this problem?
I have a Sony notebook (S series) running Windows 8 64 bit OS.
I tried to boot an iso image of True image 2013 build 6514 but
it don't boot althought I have changed the bios boot order to make it load from CD.
The same CD works fine with VISTA os and also Windows 7.
Thanks in advance

As I have said in other posts, I have a Sony Vaio, and can only ever seem to boot from bios set in legacy mode (the acronis patch made no difference to previous version). Interestingly the Sony recovery disk will boot in UEFI mode (and If I remember a boot disk made for windows image recovery), so it can be done. For some reason, some Sony PCs are not 100% compatible when in EUFI mode.

Hi,
When I insert the TRUE IMAGE cd, with no error message, windows 8 is loaded immediately
the boot cd has not been obtained from the installed version but downloading the new version builds 6514 from acronis download site.
if instead use the version installed, after Reboot, DISC cloning process does not continue even in this case is loaded windows 8.
I have not yet changed the boot to legacy to have any other problems
many thanks
giuseppe

Giuseppe,
Don't try cloning your system drive from Windows, you may end up with problems. To clone the OS drive you really need to be able to boot from the recovery CD.
If you are using the 5551 build, you will need the True Image patch to make the recovery CD, version 6514 shoudn't need it, but as Martin in post #2 says, there seems to be a problem with some Sony and for that matter Samsung notebooks.
If you have the Plus Pack you could make the Windows PE version of the Recovery Environment, whilst waiting for Acronis to find out what the problem si with the Linux based versions.

Colin B, you mention "the True Image patch" for build 5551, where can that be downloaded? I thought I recalled a "hotfix" for build 5551, but my memory of that might be wrong.

The link to the English KB article for the 5551 Secure Boot Hotfix is correct, but the KB article has been updated to reflect that the Hotfix is included in the 6514 release.
I have reported to Acronis that the patch for 5551 still should be available, but they have not yet updated the original KB article nor posted a new link.
Fortunately, the original download link for the English version still works.
Here http://dl.acronis.com/u/ATIH2013/Hotfix/ATIHSOHO_HOTFIX_437_en-US.exe is the direct link to the 5551 English Language Hotfix.
After installing the Hotfix, you MUST re-create your 5551 bootable media (Rescue Disk/Flash drive). In additional, if you are using the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager (ASRM), you would need to deactivate the ASRM, then reactivate it after installing the Hotfix.
