Error ASR: Reading /dev/sdc [Input/Output Error]

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I am using Acronis True Image Plus 2013 and have created recovery media to backup entire disc from a Raid 1 SAS HDD Server 136GB to a Raid 1 SATA HDD 2TB. I have created the backup without problems with the existing SAS Controller. The problem is, when I attempt to recover the system. Acronis attempts to load and gives me the above error. I am using a HighPoint Rocket Raid 1720 - 2-ch SATAII with 2 x Seagate Barracudda 2TB HDD.

Is it possible that the HighPoint Rocket Raid 1720 is not compatible with Acronis True Image?

I have searched the forums and the internet generally for this error and have had few if any response and no solutions.

I hope you can help me.

All the best
John

Well, how disappointing that no one even bothers to answer my query. Is anyone able to tell me which controller cards are compatible with this software?

John,

This is a user to user support forum. As such, the folks here would only be able to answer your question if they had the same hardware and knew if it worked okay or not.

If the Rescue Media is not recognizing your hardware, or the hardware support is faulty, you would need to contact Acronis support and open a case with them directly. (No charge for restore/recovery issues, and this would qualify as such.)

As far as I know, Acronis has never published a list of supported hardware (supported by the Linux based Rescue Media). Maybe they can definitely tell you whether or not your hardware is supported.

I have always purchased the Plus Package add on so that I can make WinPE (Windows) based rescue media. The Linux based Rescue Media can not have drivers added to it, but the WinPE media can have drivers added to support most hardware.

My apologies, I thought I was in the Acronis Support Forum here. Thank you for your response, at least I now know what to do next.

I am also using the Plus application however, the server is running Windows 2008 SBS Server and I am sure there is no ADK for this version of windows and I am unsure if the Windows 7/8 versions will work under this circumstance.

Anyways. thank you again for responding.

John
