Jean-Jean,
You cannot clone a partition, only a complete disk. You can can make a partition only image making sure you include the system files and MBR and restore that image.
Vous ne pouvez pas cloner la partition seulement.

That is unfortunate, since the True Image 2013 menus specifically say "Clone Partition", not "Clone Disk". I am in need of a method to move a partition off a failing drive and thought True Image would do that for me. IS there another Acronis package that can do that?

DocDJ,
The answer is to make a partition image and then restore that to a new drive.
I'll have to check what my copy of 2013 says, but technically in geek speak, a drive with just the OS on it and only a C:\ drive letter available is a single partition drive. That isn't how most people view it of course tending to only think of partitions once a second partition hidden or otherwise is added to a drive.

You may create a backup of that partition. A backup is a safer operation than clone anyway, and I always recommend backup rather than clone.

I have used Acronis to backup each of my partitions to a backup drive (v:). Now the drive with partitions U: and E: is failing, so I need to move those 2 partitions to other drives in my PC. I've never done an Acronis restore and I don't know how up-to-date my backups are (I'm using incremental backups). E: contains "my documents".
I am also thinking about using Partition Wizard to COPY the partition to the new drive and once it is successful, I can delete the original. Then I have to ask: how do I tell Acronis that the partition is moved so it will continue correct backups?

Your backups - images in Acronis speak are as up to date as the date you last performed an incremental. How many files are there in your archive?
Personally if you are unsure abouyt the state of your archive I would make a new full image containing the partitions you need to copy, if these partitions contain data rather than the OS itself, you can restore them to any disk and any partition, the wizard will let you recover the partitions in any order and place them anywhere on a drive. If the drive contains the OS you are better off (though you don't have to) making a complete disk image and then restore that to anew drive.
You will need to delete or unschedule your current tasks and make a new task if restoring to or using a different disk to contain your images.

Hi Colin B,
Thanks for the good details. I will check my backup settings. The partitions are just data, so it's good to know Acronis can place them anywhere. I was just hoping I could do a direct copy, instead of a restore. For my system partition, I am not curretly making a disk image, but I will do that.
Thanks again.
