Windows 8 with UEFI Bios - Create image and recovery

Thread needs solution

Hi everybody!

I'm in trouble with my new notebook and I need your help.
My note has Windows 8 Single Language 64 bits installed by factory. It has too UEFI Bios (with Secure Boot).
The hard disk is partioned in 4 partitions (C:, E:, F; G:).
I installed all programs and then I opened Acronis TIH 2013 to make the C: image file to use when C: partition, Windows or HDD is damaged.
Acronis shows:

- Recovery (no letter) - NTFS (0.2 GB of 0.4 GB used)
- ESP (no letter) - FAT32 (0.1 GB of 0.3 GB used)
- Push Button Reset (no letter) - NTFS (13 GB of 15.8 GB used)
- Programs (C:) - NTFS (67.8 GB of 229 GB used)
- Other partitions (E:, F; G:)

My doubts:
1 - What partitions above I have to choose to create the correct fully functional image of Programs (C:)?
2 - How I need to format C: partition? Note that ESP partition is FAT32. Acronis create correct partitions (and file system) by own?
3 - How I recover this image to computer? Please explain step-by-step, if possible.

Thanks in advance for all!!

It would take a while to answer all your queries. Please read the various starter guides (links on left hand side).

However in simplest terms, the easiest thingto do is to do a full "disk" backup which simply backs up all partitions. Do this to an external usb Hard drive. Reccovery is then a simple matter of finding the backup file and clicking on it and telling it the destination drive (the internal drive).

This way is perfect for complete recoveries, but if you want incremental recoveries etc, please read the guides first (they are very good and easy to follow).

The only probelm you may have is with seeing your hard disk if it is gpt formatted.  Version 6514 has a bug and will not see them in all circumstances.  Recommend you download and install earlier 5551 version which does not have this problem, but you may also need to install a hotfix so you can boot recovery disk in EUFI mode (alternatively try booting in legacy mode - will need to change bios).

Indeed, the ESP and Recovery/System partition are required in most restores. As Martin above says, it is best to at least make one complete disk image, after that you can make additional single partition images if you wish.
