Can Not Uninstall ATIH2012-- 7119 via Control Panel Uninstall

Thread needs solution

First I used SysInternals Autoruns program to disable anything that said Acronis.
Then I re-started my Win7-64it machine.

Then I ran the Control-Panel Uninstaller on ACIH2012.

Got failure as seen in the screen-shot

other error-pop-up seen on the (B) computer is shown in second screenshot FWIW.

Windows Backup does not work om either.

I can not get it to work even when I click the left-pane to start windows backup. It just flat-out will not start. This is on my (B) Win-7 machine. My (Z) Win7 machine still will not allow many Acronis register entries to be deleted and thus Windows Backup does not work on it either.

2 computers. 2 installs of ATIH2012 and a very precarious, not-backed-up situation indeed.

Next time put me on the Beta team so these problems are fixed before it goes public.

Rob,

Your second error message is due to TIH not installing correctly. Is this a brand new installation or a build upgrade to a previous install?

Have you tried running a repair install of TIH 2012?

Windows Backup shouldn't be overwritten by True Image unless 'integration' has been specifically selected from the 'Help' menu.

Do you install for single user or all users?

Do you have any registry trackers that track installs or software that protects system files and registry from certain additions and have you checked that your firewall isn't stopping parts of TIh being installed?

Some of the registry entries relating to SNAPMAN and Virtual Disk are elft in registry deliberately. Acronis have no way of knowing (nor does any other software provider) if another program has decided to use the Acronis disk managers or other Sys files, therefore it is safer to leave these on the computer. Other software companies do exactly the same thing, it is in fact the way Windows is designed to work, though I get the feeling Microsoft assumed people would only ever use their software.

.

I am trying to upgrade from Win7 to Win8, and it requires me to uninstall a few applications, including Acronis TIH 2012. I uninstalled the other applications, but I am unable to uninstall TIH. I get an error message saying that "You do not have sufficient access to uninstall Acronis True Image Home 2012. Please contact your system admin." Problem is, I AM the administrator, so this is a problem with Acronis.

When I called Acronis, I was told that I needed to pay for tech support (I got my TIH last September). I am frustrated at having to pay to remove an application. I should NOT have to pay to remove an application. Meanwhile, I am stuck, because of Acronis. I can't uninstall TIH, so I can't complete the upgrade to Win8.

Someone in this forum, to someone with a similar problem, suggested downloading an Uninstall Utility, but I have scoured the Acronis website and have found no such tool.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

PeterC

PeterC,

Have you as I mentioned in my post tried to run a repair install of 2012 or uninstall 2012 from the installation file?

PeterC,
Link you requested to cleanup utility can be found inside my signature below.

Thanks to both of you, ColinB and GroberH, for your prompt - and helpful - response. The link to the Cleanup Utility was the quickest solution, and it worked like a charm. I was able to resume the install of Win8 successfully.

Of course, I"m sure there are those who, like me, will wonder whether going from Win7 to Win8 is, in fact, a wise move...

Is it worthy of using TIH2011? I purchased this software but never got to download and learn the program. I read other Users had encountered all kinds of problems; I am not computer savvy, can anyone advise if I should give it a try or use the normal way to save data on USB sticks or DVD? Any advice would be appreciated.

MagicalSpell,

The Acronis forum sometimes doesn't refresh promptly, to see if your post made it through open another tab on your browser and navigate to the thread you posted in, this will save you inadvertently making multiple posts.

TIH 2011 will work on all Windows 7 and Vista systems but not on Windows 8.

What do you consider is the 'normal way' of saving data? If you want to make images of your complete disk then True Image is one of many programs that can do that, if you want to backup files and folders then True Image can also do that. There can be problems with backing up Mocrosoft Outlook if you have either opened it or are using it when making a email backup through True Image.

I have stopped using ATIH 2012, but it won't let me do an uninstall from the Windows (7) control panel, saying I don't have sufficient access. I am logged in as administrator, so I don't know what other access it needs.

Ed St.Martin,

Try running the 2012 installer again and select repair install, after that has finished, try uninstalling using the uninstall choice from the installer.

Failing that, the Acronis Cleaner should be able to remove it for you. Using that though will render any other Acronis product unusable without a repair install of that software.
